A New Chapter at Chateau de Boise

Hello, and welcome to my website!

My name is Bill Schaefer, and I recently began a new chapter in my life by moving into an independent senior living community — the Chateau de Boise. Like many, this decision came after a lot of thought, research, and conversations with my family. I wanted to find a place that offered both comfort and community, while also helping me manage some ongoing health concerns — especially chronic back pain.

My top priorities were clear:

• Affordability

• Light housekeeping services

• Nutritious meals provided daily

• A welcoming, age-appropriate community

• Scheduled activities and local outings

• Help with transportation, especially to medical appointments and grocery stores

Chateau de Boise checked all the boxes.

Each week, someone comes to clean my apartment, change my sheets and towels, and help with the kind of tasks that used to be second nature but now take a toll on my back. Three meals a day are provided — which means one less thing to worry about. Most importantly, I’m surrounded by like-minded individuals, many of whom are in the same stage of life, seeking both independence and companionship.

There’s an Activities Director here who keeps things interesting — with events and outings around the Boise area. Whether it’s a scenic drive, a game night, or a trip to the local farmers market, there’s always something going on.

For my children, peace of mind was a big part of this move. They wanted to know I was safe, cared for, and living in a place that respected my independence without stretching finances too thin. Chateau de Boise has been a solid answer to that concern.

This blog will be my space to share stories, insights, tips, and maybe a few reflections on aging, community, and finding joy in everyday moments. Whether you're considering a similar move, helping a loved one plan theirs, or just curious about life in an independent senior community — I hope you'll find something here that resonates.
