Common courtesy is the basic, expected politeness and respect shown in social interactions, involving simple acts like saying “please,” “thank you,” and being considerate of others’ space and needs. It’s essentially showing empathy by treating others how you’d want to be treated, fostering kindness, good relationships, and mutual respect.

Over time things at Chateau de Boise have been getting worse. Being inconsiderate of others, taking advantage of our bus, calling staff and servers names, stealing, and just downright rudeness. I hope I’m not the only one who doesn’t want to live in a community that encourages these.

We as residents need to speak up and tell those that are doing these to stop. Our silence is as much to blame as those who are doing it. Picking all the chocolate out of the candy, not signing up for the laundry. Arguing over where to go shopping. Taking things from the free table just to be hoarding them. Parking walkers in front of the snack bar and fire exit, waiting for someone to trip over them and get hurt. Being rude to staff and our servers.

We have already lost several servers for rudeness from residents. We need to support our activity director before we lose her also. Start attending activities, being polite, having fun, smiling, and apologizing when wrong.

We and staff cannot change the remodel and what is going to happen. We need to embrace it and see how we can make it work for us.

Those of us who care let’s make Chateau de Boise a positive and happy community.

Thank You
RK
