Town Hall Meeting with Colleen
Date: December 14, 2025
Water Dispenser by the Coffee Station
Please do not put your hands into the dispenser to retrieve ice.
Renovation Update
- The 3rd floor and stairwell should be completed by December 23, 2025.
- Bathrooms will be renovated one at a time, beginning after the 13th.
- When flooring work is underway, we will try to schedule an activity, or residents may remain in their rooms. Please note that the flooring requires several hours of prep time before it can be walked on.
- Flooring work is expected to begin around February, with each floor taking approximately 3 days to complete.
- Door skins will be applied, so please remove all decorations from your doors.
- The overall renovation is expected to take approximately 3–4 months.
- The fish tank is being moved due to resurfacing of the rock wall. We are working to find a suitable permanent location once renovations are complete.
- We are exploring the possibility of adding a few six-seat tables in the dining room, though this is not guaranteed.
- We will do our best to keep everyone informed as schedules are finalized.
A Note on Negativity
Please remember that negativity is not helpful to anyone. Many residents are working hard to suggest ideas and improvements to make this a great place to live. Most residents are tired of hearing constant complaints from a few individuals.
Treatment of Residents and Staff
Everyone has feelings. Please be mindful of how you speak to others and consider how you would want to be spoken to.
General Notices
- Common courtesy is expected from both residents and staff. For example, when taking the bus shopping, please return on time so departures are not delayed.
- The staff party will be held on December 20. Dinner will be served in boxes again. Thank you for your understanding.
- There is a $5.00 pendant fee for Atrium residents. On your anniversary date, you will need to sign a new contract with Provincial, and the pendant charge will be set at $5.00.
- It is extremely important to wear and regularly charge your pendant, as it is for your safety.
- Renters/Liability insurance is mandatory. All residents must have renters insurance that lists Château de Boise as an additional insured.
- Smoking on patios is prohibited. Please do not dispose of cigarette butts in indoor trash cans (including the library). A new designated smoking area should be completed within the next week.
- Downstairs bathroom: Please be respectful. Toilet seat covers are provided—please use them. If there is an accident, notify staff so it can be cleaned promptly.
- Trash disposal: Please do not place trash from your rooms in the library or mail area trash bins. Use the laundry room trash or the outside dumpster.
Closing
Wishing everyone a wonderful Christmas. Can you believe 2026 is almost here?
Thank you,
Colleen

Celebrations Meeting Notes 11/20/2025
11/20/2025
Outings
For December we are scheduled to go to Northend Organic Nursery, Hobby Lobby, Craft Store, Senior Center, Thai Restaurant, and an Italian restaurant.
Suggestions for future outings were Melba Fairy & Gnome Garden, Goodwill, and Scheels.
Tuscan Event
Similar to our France event in November, we will be going to Tuscany, Italy in December. I look forward to making pasta with all of you!
Auction
We will be having another funny money auction in December.
Please start donating gently-used or like-new items.
Items must be new or like-new and cannot be clothing unless it’s a unique collectible.
All residents participating in the auction will have dollars.
Christmas
We will have carolers, make gingerbread houses, decorate cookies to donate to veterans, make ornaments, Christmas dinner, and the Elephant Gift Exchange on December 23rd. Buy any gifts $5–$7 and wrap it.
Resident Ambassadors
Please let Audrey know if you are interested in being an ambassador.
Some requirements: be positive, active, willing to facilitate gatherings, and eager to meet new residents.
Ambassador meeting: Sat., Nov. 22nd @ 10am in Fireside Room.
Bingo
We voted on updated bingo rules. Dollar bingo will be limited to 2 cards per player. This will help increase payouts but make payouts smaller.
We will revisit the bingo rules every couple of months as needed.
Final Notes
Keep an eye out for Show & Tell and Speed Getting to Know Ya on the calendar!
Resident Meeting — 11/13/2025
Transportation
Medical appointments are a priority. Remember to sign up two days in advance. We need to minimize one-off runs to the store.
Please do your shopping on Wednesday as a group.
Scooters & Electric Wheelchairs
Residents using scooters or electric wheelchairs must sit at the outside tables and the outside position of the table.
We are now 97% full and there isn’t enough room in the dining room for the servers.
This is also a safety issue.
Walkers
Ask the servers to move your walker and retrieve it when you are finished with your meal.
Dining Room Etiquette
-
Staff may look rushed when bussing tables — please don’t think they are trying to rush you.
-
Be patient when it comes to the coffee hot pots. The cook cannot always stop what they are doing to refill them.
You may come to Colleen’s office if you need coffee. -
Note: Coffee is not served at 5:00 am. It is supposed to be filled by 7:00 am.
Guest Room
The guest room is no longer available.
Projects
-
Thank you for your patience with the parking lot. A sealcoat will be done next spring.
-
Work continues on the new smoking area.
-
Approvals are underway for a handicap entrance on one of the patio doors.
-
When using the steam table, the menu will be limited to quick items that don’t need to stay warm.
Resident Survey
Please complete the Resident Survey. If you need help, just ask.
Knocking on Doors
Someone has been knocking on residents’ doors. This must stop.
It is not funny, and someone could get hurt rushing to answer the door.
A camera system is being considered to monitor this behavior.
Pets
-
Dogs: Must be on a leash. Dogs relieving themselves in the hallways is becoming a problem again.
-
Cats: The cat odor is out of control. Do not throw away garbage containing used litter that still smells or has damaged carpets.
Respect Toward Staff
Some residents are still being rude to the staff. This is uncalled for.
Please remember: they are working hard for you.
Dining Room Timing
Those who say it takes too long to be served are often arriving 45 minutes before service begins.
Positive Environment
Shout out to Audrey for providing wonderful entertainers.
Constant complaints in the hallways need to stop—this is residents’ home too.
Be an example: uplift others instead of dragging them down.
For concerns, speak directly to Colleen in her office.
Smoking
There is no smoking except in:
-
the designated smoking area, or
-
off the property.
This also applies to the cottages.
Closing Message
I want to thank you all for making this a wonderful place to work.
